If there's a cause or an event that touches your
life as a Tarrant County resident, there's a
good chance that the Star-Telegram is touched by
it, too. The newspaper is proud to serve the
people of North Texas not only as their daily
newspaper, but as a caring and concerned member
of the community. The Star-Telegram has
supported literally hundreds of organizations
throughout the years, with annual contributions
worth an estimated $7 million in the form of
cash donations, newspaper advertising space and
other merchandise. Plus, countless hours are
logged by our employees who serve as members and
board members of organizations throughout
Tarrant County. We celebrate a long tradition
of giving that was begun by our longtime
publisher, Amon G. Carter, Sr., and continues to
the present day under the leadership of Wes
Turner.
Some of the many, many organizations to which
the Star-Telegram contributes include United
Way, Jewel Charity, the Fort Worth Opera, Casa
Manana, the Van Cliburn Gala, Botanical Research
Institute of Texas, the Network of Hispanic
Communicators, and the many area chambers of
commerce in the communities we serve. Many of
the organizations assisted are based in
Northeast Tarrant County, including The
Community Storehouse, Greater Keller Women's
Club, Alliance for Children, HEB Rotary,
Community Enrichment Center, Airport YMCA, NW
ISD Education Foundation, ARTSNET, Christ's
Haven for Children, Metroport Meals on Wheels,
numerous Northeast Tarrant schools and many
others.
