Community
Storehouse Overview
Celebrating our 25TH anniversary in 2007, Community Storehouse was
established so no child would be hungry or have to drop out of school to
work. The Community Storehouse is a local nonprofit relief organization
whose mission is “Dedicated to the well being and education of the
children in our community.” Our focus continues to be on caring for the
needs of the children to help guarantee their success in school and to
achieve graduation. Our service area includes portions of Tarrant, Denton
and Wise Counties where over 4,000 school-aged children in the Keller and
Northwest Independent School Districts qualify for our assistance.
The Community Storehouse
provides effective services in response to the growing needs of the families
in varying crisis situations through comprehensive client care.
These services include:
·
Counseling
·
Food
·
Clothing
·
Rent/mortgage assistance
·

In addition, our Special
Children’s Programs will serve a projected 3,569 children in 2007. Over
2,084 individuals (non-repetitive qualified clients) were provided services

The Community Storehouse
also provides a safe and meaningful training ground for youth volunteers to
gain leadership and job training skills; we operate with 80% volunteer
staff. Over 200 active volunteers promote a sense of community in meeting
the needs of our region. We “rebuild lives” for our clients but we also
“build character” through our outstanding volunteer efforts and bring a
since of community and cooperation in caring for our neighbors in crisis.
The Community Storehouse
depends on funding support from churches, businesses, foundation grants, and
individual donors. Support can also be through sponsoring special events,
which include our Run in the Dark, Kevin Mench Celebrity Golf Tournament and
Dinner Extravaganza. We need volunteers six days a week, Monday through
Saturday, in our daily operations of the Food Pantry, Donation Center,
Resale Store, Administrative Offices, Furniture Pick-ups, Food Pick-ups,
Lending Library and Client Services.
